The trombone holds the distinction of being the only member of the brass family that uses a single slide to produce pitch rather than a set of valves.
Trombones are found in all musical genres, serving as either a tenor or bass voice, depending upon instrumentation. Trombonists produce pitch by shortening or extending the instrument slide through a series of seven positions. For each slide position, several pitches can be attained through a player's lip tension. Having a "good ear" is essential to becoming a successful trombonist. Our instructors at Pellegrino Fine Arts Academy combine years of performance expertise and teaching experience to help every trombone student master this challenging instrument!
