The guitar holds the distinction of being the second-most popular instrument of choice among beginning music students, out-ranked only by piano. Equally at home in all musical genres, the guitar’s versatility as both a solo and accompanying instrument has earned it its iconic status and ubiquitous presence in all types of music, from classical to hard rock. The earliest guitar-like instruments date to the 12th century and evolved into the four types of guitars commonly used today: classical, acoustic, acoustic/electric, and electric.
So, which type of guitar should you choose? That question is best answered by the style of music you wish to play. Classical guitar literature is traditionally performed on classical guitars; folk music lends itself to acoustic guitars; pop/rock benefits from the versatility of an acoustic/electric guitar; for serious rock music, only an electric guitar will do! Our guitar instructors at Pellegrino Fine Arts Academy are fluent in all musical styles and possess the knowledge and experience to help every student reach their musical goals!
